Ebestron manufactures the blank double- component adhesive double cartridges – packaging parallel device designed to keep Part A and Part B in separation until they engage with our static mixer. You are supplied the cartridge, piston, and closure, but Ebestron fills each one with your epoxy, acrylic, silicone, MMA or polyurethane. Whether your system calls for epoxy with our double cartridge, or ultra-fast setting methacrylate, each of our cartridges are manufactured for standard Sulzer Mixpac and Nordson EFD dispenser compatibility; eliminating tooling investment if you choose to switch suppliers. Almost any buyer looking to find cheap two-part adhesive packaging begins their search by comparing price and looking at plastic cartridge – then running into an obvious issue. 600 mL empty Sulzer Mixpac and medmix brand cartridges can be found from U.S. suppliers at prices ranging around $2.63 each, while their Nordson EFD 300 mL empty epoxy cartridge counterparts come in around $2.64. But the two seem perfectly in sync until the customer realizes that the exorbitant cost is for something other than the cartridge.

A branded A-System 50mL cartridge kit- gun, cartridge frame included- comes in at the start price for $1,520, a GreenLine B-System 50mL kit for $1,750. Once your line is invested in a particular patented gun, the refill cost becomes captive. Two cartridges keeps component, their pair of reactive partners, safely isolated, only to be reunited when the static mixer engages and presses them into reaction on-ratio-the key to the system’s grip being the gun’s and flange’s geometry and lock, not a disposable barrel. It’s the very wedge we’re made for at Ebestron: we can make your proprietary flange, piston interface, proprietary gun available and your cartridge a factory-direct consumable price. We can’t and won’t assert our cartridges are cheaper in all circumstances, the cost savings is honest and finite: if through put increases beyond some threshold level, massed supply are always more cost effective through a metered mixing machine. Where they shine – middle-low volume dispense – we make it honest.

We won’t claim our cartridges beat bulk at every scale — that trade-off is honest, and not always in your favor above a high-volume threshold — but at small to medium volume the factory-direct consumable keeps the recurring cost fair.

Mix-Ratio Decoder — Ratio, Material & Piston for Your Chemistry Engineer

Select a cartridge with the wrong number, and you get soft or patchily cured or uncured adhesive after the part has already shipped. The volumetric mix ratio on your technical data sheet is the lynchpin; from there follow the sequence of chamber structure, mixing difficulty, total volume, and finally piston size. Bypass one step in the sequence and you’re adjusting the wrong variable.

Take a 10:1 methacrylate for an automotive panel-bonding application as a worked example: the activator side sits under 10% of the chamber, so a stepped 10:1 body molded in nylon — the volatile barrier an MMA needs for shelf life — paired with a vented piston that clears air on the rear-fill line gives a repeatable bead.

Put the same material in a 1:1 PP cartridge and it under-doses the activator and never reaches full strength. That is the match Ebestron specs against your actual chemistry, where catalog suppliers ship one generic piston for every job.

Barrel: polypropylene (PP) offers broad chemical resistance and is by far the least expensive for epoxies, urethanes, and silicones; nylon (PA) is required for MMA and acrylics since the volatile content in those materials makes a barrier necessary for their shelf-life – however, it is an absorbent for moisture.

PBT provides the highest dimensional stability and alignment of the piston to barrel, yet is less resistant to impact; PP is less ideal if your MMA application will not tolerate short shelf-life, so selecting polypropylene for your MMA application actually is a quality selection rather than just a cosmetics election.

Barrel Configuration Mechanics

Piston: self-venting (vented) piston exists to release trapped air as your kit is filled in the back – not a benefit you’ll use with every fill. When used after filling, the non-vented piston provides a fully sealed chamber for oxygen and moisture resistance to assure longer shelf-life.

The sealing-ring piston is used with high viscosity materials and at high pneumatic pressures to inhibit back-filling – whereas the non-sealing piston is selected to reduce friction in high-viscosity applications dispensed with a manual or air powered dispensing gun. All Ebestron pistons are specified to match your application fill-process and chemistry; they are not specified for universal use.

The Proprietary System Trap

Here is the trap that sinks more cartridge orders than price ever does: most “systems” are proprietary letter codes that do not cross from one supplier to the next. Techcon says it very well-“Techcon 200mL and 400mL A-System outlets are similar to other suppliers’ C-System outlets; 400/490mL B-System outlets are similar to other suppliers’ F-System outlets. Please confirm compatibility before purchase.”

On a Nordson Ratio-Pak, an A-side body fits only its complementary B-side; shove the wrong cartridges into a higher ratio and the device simply won’t seat with the required gun-tip geometry. The real risk is not price, it’s compatibility.

The Volumetric Mismatch

Then there’s a second, more costly mismatch hidden away in your material’s technical data sheet. Take a 10:1 ratio mixed “by volume” that shows up on the label as 10:1 – for the exact same product, it might be nearly 13.5:1 “by weight.” This occurs because the base and catalyst do not weigh the same amount per unit of volume.

According to a Nordson/Plas-Pak patent, they are not “always admixed in a 1:1 ratio,” and the ratio selected is keyed to the cartridge diameter. Since dual cartridges are true volume dispensers through their chamber geometry, orders of a cartridge ratio derived from the weight-based number are under shot on the catalyst and produce a soft, patchy cure that will subsequently be blamed on the adhesive. The mode of failure that buyers fear is one that doesn’t make it onto the datasheet: “blow-by”. Cured adhesive in the cartridge tip, or a piston that allows one side to compress and release, leaks past the plunger and silently breaks the mix ratio – the assembler has to check plunger depth before every run to catch it. So whichever cartridge we make, it’s only as good as its seal, and so we test it in the way the packaging industry really measures sealing, rather than insisting “high quality”..

Because cross-brand letter codes don’t always line up — a Techcon A-System outlet resembles another supplier’s C-System — we confirm the exact interface against your dispenser before you order, and samples let your team verify the fit physically.

The ratio is the volume of resin to hardener. Equal chambers handle 1:1; the 2:1 and 4:1 use a stepped design with a larger resin side; the 10:1 holds under 10% activator, which demands tight chamber accuracy and careful mixer matching. Always take the ratio from your material’s data sheet by volume, not by weight — the two can differ significantly for the same product.

Match it to the chemistry. PP suits epoxies, polyurethanes, and silicones with broad chemical resistance at the lowest cost.
